Indian Blanket

Gaillardia pulchella



Indian blanket is a short-lived perennial or annual with beautiful red and yellow flowers. It prefers sandy well-drained soil but will tolerate different soil conditions. This plant is great for full sun locations and is drought tolerant. Great for butterfly gardens!


While not native to MD (according to http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=GAPU&photoID=gapu_005_ahp.jpg) Gaillardia pulchella var. pulchella  (firewheel) is native to most surrounding states like: Virginia, Delaware, and Pennsylvania (but not West Virginia.)

Soil Moisture: moist to dry

Light: full sun to partial shade

Soil pH: 7.0+-

Height: 1 to 2 feet tall
