Diamondback Terrapin October 2011

After matting in early spring, female diamondback terrapins (Malaclemys terrapin) lay clutches of 4-22 eggs (in early summer) in sand dunes. The eggs hatch in late summer or early fall. This little terrapin must have hatched out in late summer.
