A ruby-crowned kinglet is a very small bird. The males and females are similar in appearance but only the males have the red feathers on the head. This one was caught in a mist net set up during a lesson on bird banding. Thank you Jim Swift and Kyle Rambo (from NAS) for sharing your knowledge and time.
Caught by visiting high school students enrolled in John Spinnichia’s natural resources class at the Dr. Forest Career and Technology Center -April 2011.
